Sample report
Every CloudSpects pre-shipment inspection ends in the same document: a defined lot, a declared sample, defects by class with counts, the FBA packaging checks, a verdict you can hand to a supplier or a claim reviewer, and the rework plan. This page annotates that structure line by line — open it next to the public sample report our platform already publishes, so you can see the real document and what each part is doing.
6,000 units packed in 500 cartons, 12 units per carton. The inspected lot is defined as cartons 1–500, all from the two production runs of week 38. Cartons still on the line were excluded and are not covered by this report.
The lot definition is the part that turns a report into evidence: it says what population the findings describe, so a defect count can be converted into a number of cartons rather than left as a general impression.
| Standard | Level | AQL | Lot size | Sample n | Ac / Re |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ISO 2859-1 / ANSI-ASQ Z1.4, single normal | General inspection level II | 2.5 (major), 0 (critical) | 6,000 units | 200 units | 10 / 11 |
Sample drawn from sealed cartons across the stack (bottom, middle and top layers), not from cartons staged at the line. Draw source is recorded because it is the first thing a supplier will question.
| Class | Found in n=200 | Examples recorded | Consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Critical | 3 | Sharp burrs on the handle grip cutting through the poly bag (2 units); one detached weld at the load-bearing leg joint | Safety and structural — shipment cannot be released as-is |
| Major | 17 | 11 units with loose threaded inserts; 4 coating runs on the visible top shelf; 2 units with 3 mm wobble from uneven legs | Buyer would return or downgrade — exceeds Ac 10 |
| Minor | 12 | Bag wrinkles, light scuffs on non-visible faces, slight shade variation inside tolerance | Noted; no rework demand on their own |
Verdict: FAIL — rework required
Majors (17) exceed the acceptance number (10) for this sample, and three critical defects were recorded, so the lot is rejected regardless of the major count. The report states both, because a supplier will argue the majors against Ac while ignoring the criticals.
| Check | Method | Result |
|---|---|---|
| FNSKU label | Scanned on each sampled unit, placement per prep rules | PASS — 200/200 scannable |
| Poly bag thickness | Micrometer on sampled bags | FAIL — 1.2 mil measured against the 1.5 mil minimum |
| Suffocation warning | Bag opening measured and printing checked | FAIL — 8 in opening, no warning printed |
| Carton gross weight | Scale, 50 cartons weighed | 26.4 lb average — inside the standard limit, no Team Lift required |
| Carton marks and seal | Marks against the shipment plan; seal integrity | Matches; 4 cartons with re-taped seams noted |
| Carton drop test | 2 spare cartons, ISTA 6A sequence (corner / 3 edges / 6 faces) at the ~12 in band for a 26 lb carton | FAIL — shelf dented on the corner drop; carton still closed |
Drop testing uses spare cartons packed for the purpose, so no saleable unit is destroyed to produce the evidence. Both tested carton numbers and before/after photos are in the photo set.
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Inspection man-day (1) | $169 |
| Re-inspection man-day after rework (1) | $169 |
| Factory rework, re-bagging and re-packing (absorbed by the supplier under the PO clause) | supplier account |
| Exposure avoided — 17 majors in n=200 on 6,000 units, plus returns and removals on the criticals | ~$4,100 estimate |
Re-inspection result: AQL 2.5 Level II, n=200, 4 majors, 0 critical — PASS. The container was loaded four days after the original plan, with the balance released on the report.
118 unedited photos accompany the report: 34 carton and label shots with carton numbers legible, 46 defect close-ups with carton number in the same frame, 12 measurement shots with the gauge reading visible, 14 drop-test before/after frames, and 12 loading and pallet shots. Originals only — nothing re-compressed or edited, because a photo that has been through a chat app is the first thing a claim reviewer discounts.
Reports are issued in English, typically within about 24 hours of the visit, and stay retrievable so a file can still be produced when a warranty claim arrives a year later.
