An ottoman looks like the simplest piece of furniture you can import — fabric, foam, a box, some legs. The Sit Test and the Creak Test
Inspectors do not just measure ottomans — they sit on them. A 75-90 kg sit test on every sampled unit checks for three things: permanent compression (does it spring back?), frame creak (is the joinery tight?) and cover slippage (does the fabric shift on the foam?).
