What is checked during wall clock inspection

Wall clocks are mechanical, so most defects are functional — not cosmetic. The inspection order matters:

Step 2: Silent sweep vs tick — the audibility test

True silent sweep movements use a continuous gear rotation. Budget factories ship standard tick movements and print "silent" on the box.

Test: place the clock on a wall hook or stand, stand 1 meter away in a quiet room, listen for 30 seconds. Sweep movement = inaudible. Tick movement = clearly audible.

We also check the second hand: on a sweep clock it glides; on a tick clock it jumps once per second. That visual tells you instantly what is inside.

Step 3: Hands alignment and face QC
