Amazon FBA product inspection checklist: 10 checkpoints we actually verify

Every CloudSpects Amazon FBA inspection follows the same on-site sequence. This is the product inspection checklist an inspector physically works through on the factory floor before you release final payment or send goods to FBA — and the evidence behind each line of your report.

• 1. FNSKU label verification: Every unit's FNSKU is scanned to confirm it matches the ASIN on your listing, scans on the first attempt, and sits on the correct packaging face — not on a curved or reflective surface where scanners fail. Evidence: scan result per unit + photo of the label in place.
• 2. Carton and FBA shipment labels: Box ID labels and FBA carton labels are checked for the right shipment ID, correct format, and first-scan readability; unreadable carton labels are the single most common cause of inbound rejection. Evidence: photos of every label type on the carton.
• 3. Retail packaging integrity: Seals, crush points, and bundle quality are inspected on finished goods, and poly bags are measured against Amazon thickness rules with the suffocation warning present and correctly sized. Evidence: measured poly bag thickness + seal and crush photos.
• 4. Quantity and packing list match: Cartons are counted and opened against your packing list, so short shipments, over-shipments, and wrong carton counts are caught at the factory instead of at the FBA receiving dock. Evidence: counted quantities per carton vs your packing list.
• 5. AQL sampling to ISO 2859-1: The sample size comes from your lot size at inspection level II, with single sampling and Ac/Re limits applied to critical, major, and minor defects — the same ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 method your buyer or freight forwarder expects. • 6. Workmanship and appearance defects: Each sampled unit is checked for scratches, stains, loose stitching, burrs, poor printing, and assembly gaps, and every defect is classified as critical, major, or minor rather than simply listed. Evidence: one numbered photo per defect with the defect class.
• 7. Function and safety checks: Products are switched on, assembled, or trialled the way an end customer would use them — current output, switch and socket behaviour, moving parts, leaking seals — not just inspected visually. Evidence: function test result per sampled unit.
• 8. Carton drop and transit test: A packed carton is dropped on one corner, three edges, and six faces so weak cartons, thin internal dividers, and crush-prone bundles are found before a container ride exposes them. Evidence: drop test result plus before/after carton photos.
• 9. SKU mix-up and colour consistency: Units are checked for mixed SKUs, wrong sizes, missing set components, and shade or finish variation between production batches — the defects that generate Amazon returns rather than refunds. Evidence: colour and size comparison photos from the sampled units.
• 10. Container loading supervision: When you book loading supervision, the inspector is present while the container is loaded, checking the container's condition, load plan, carton count, and securing before the doors are closed.
